Yup. I’m gonna be the old geezer who says that in my day, stitching a name on a set of mouse ears had to be done by hand! I got to play with the stitching machine once…the people who did it were definitely talented.
Picture a car door’s window handle (you know, from the days when you actually had to roll down your window instead of press a button) mounted underneath the counter. Whichever way the handle is turned, that’s the direction the hat moved under the needle.
The one time I tried it, I couldn’t pull off a single letter.
I certainly understand why Disney dumbed down the process…it was difficult and time consuming. I’m just showing my age by marveling over how times have changed.
